Asserachrom® VWF:FVIIIB

How can haemophilia A and type 2N von Willebrand disease be distinguished? To answer this question, Stago has developed a new diagnostic tool for VWF disease 2N: the Asserachrom® VWF:FVIIIB kit.
Asserachrom VWF FVIIIB

Von Willebrand factor (VWF) is responsible for the transportation and protection of 95% of Factor VIII (FVIII) in plasma. If VWF loses its capacity to bind to FVIII (VWF type 2N), levels of circulating FVIII fall sharply. In this case, the resulting clinical symptoms (bleeding) are very similar to those of mild-to-moderate haemophilia A. Measurement of VWF:FVIIIB is thus the only discriminant test capable of providing differential diagnosis between haemophilia A and type 2N VWF disease. The results of this test form the basis for suitable management and treatment of the patient.

Asserachrom® VWF:FVIIIB (S/N 00919) is the only test currently commercially available allowing quantitative determination of the binding capacity of VWF for FVIII.

Advantages of Asserachrom® VWF:VIIIB:

  • Clinically validated*in relation to the "in-house" method
  •  used hitherto
  • Reliable:
    • allows identification of homozygous type 2N patients
    • 100% specific and sensitive
    • no interference from blood groups
  • Identification of heterozygous patients for clinical risk evaluation.
  • Rapid and standardised
    • faster than the "in-house" method
    • ready-to-use kit
